Power and Handling of the 2025 Subaru Outback
The 2025 Subaru Outback continues the brand's legacy of providing superior capability both on and off the road. This capability begins under the hood with a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer engine that offers drivers 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Outback Wilderness, Onyx Edition XT, Limited XT, and Touring XT trim levels employ a 2.4L turbocharged Boxer engine, which bumps power output to 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. Both engines come paired with a continuously variable transmission with an eight-speed manual shift mode controlled by steering wheel paddle shifters. The Outback's impressive traction in all conditions is provided by Subaru's legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system with Active Torque Vectoring. The standard Active Torque Vectoring feature allows the AWD system to send torque side to side. For example, when entering a corner to the left, the system will automatically apply more torque to the right wheels to improve stability and provide a more controlled turn.
What Features Come Standard with the 2025 Outback?
The Subaru Outback lineup begins with the Base trim offering a solid foundation of features to kick off the lineup. Outside, the 2025 Subaru Outback Base features 17-inch alloy wheels, steering-responsive LED headlights, LED fog lights, raised roof rails, and more. Meanwhile, stepping inside, you'll find a dual seven-inch infotainment touchscreen system, USB-based Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, cloth seating, single-zone automatic climate control, and Subaru EyeSight driver assist technologies. As you climb the lineup, you'll gain more features. The Outback Premium, for example, adds an 11.6-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, a 10-way power driver's seat, wireless Apple/Android smartphone integration, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, windshield wiper de-icer, and more. The Wilderness trim is in a league of its own, exclusively featuring 9.5 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, hexagonal LED fog lights, black side mirrors with integrated turn signals, roof rails with copper accents and cargo tie-down points, and more.
2025 Subaru Outback Limited Updates
While much of the 2025 Subaru Outback lineup brings many of the same features, the Limited trim receives its own set of updates for the 2025 model year. The Outback Limited builds on the Premium trim, featuring perforated leather-trimmed upholstery, a 12-way power-adjustable driver's seat, an eight-way power-adjustable passenger seat, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated rear outboard seats, and more. Meanwhile, Outback Limited also gains a new set of features for the 2025 model year. First is Subaru's DriverFocus distraction mitigation system, which will alert the driver with audio and visual warnings when distracted or drowsy driving behaviors are detected. Additionally, the 2025 Outback Limited gains built-in navigation shown on the 11.6-inch Subaru StarLink touchscreen. Outback Limited occupants also enjoy an abundance of natural lighting with a newly standard power moonroof. Finally, the driver's hands are kept warm in the chilly months by the 360-degree heated steering wheel, now standard for the 2025 Subaru Outback Limited.
