    • Great first car but helps to be a mechanic

Where do I begin with this car. Bought it in 1999 with 72K on it, as my first. The previous owner must have really beat it up, so I inherited the problems. It ran well, with typical replacement of tires, batteries, and alternator, etc., until 105K miles. From then on...its had a rebuilt trans, rebuilt top-end of the engine/head gasket job, and about 25-35 other parts. I kept it in order to save money (college student) and learn how to fix cars. A major accomplishment is it did survive two winters in Buffalo NY. Also, its good on gas, has an attractive look, and has a strong enough motor to handle most traffic. The bad: left me stranded at least once or twice a year, terrible turning radius, poorly designed door handles(which are pretty important) for the size of the doors, and has been in constant need of repairs. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with this car...but that's how your first car should be.
    • LEGIT Best Car I Owned

I got this car, as my first car, many years ago. It had 198,000 miles on it at the time - and I put another 70k on it before I invested in a newer, better (or so I thought) car. I would (legally) race mustangs, and all those super fast cars in my Grand Prix - but nothing had the power that my car did! Not that it’s of any importance, it was just an awesome and fun perk. I semi-lightly rear-ended a friend’s SUV (luckily it was a friend) and their car had to have the bumper replaced, which I obviously paid for - but the silver bullet didn’t have a dent. I backed into a brick wall - no damage. Only damage I really was able to do to this thing was when I hit a curb i popped the tire and drove on the rim a bit (because I didn’t know what else to do!) but that’s not something I could blame on the car! It was SOLID. You could feel it’s weight when driving - especially in the snow! They don’t make cars like this one anymore. Sadly. After owning a brand new Mercedes, a few maxima, a BMW and an Acura TL... I can honestly say, I never felt as comfortable and safe as I did in the Grand Prix, anddd it lasted well over 268,000 miles I’m sure. I sold it at 268k miles to get my second car - the maxima... which only lasted me a few years before I HAD to sell it due to an O2 sensor that was recalled 3 times and located inside the engine -which may or may not have been able to fix my rejection sticker and I wasn’t about to pay to have someone take apart my engine then put it back together to find that it didn’t work... needless to say, this car was one of a kind. If you find one in somewhat good condition - buy it, esp if a first time driver needs a beater car.
