What about the Forester's powertrain enhances performance?

Coming in with the 2020 Forester is a new updated 4-cylinder engine with the 2.5-liter BOXER engine that is capable of pushing out 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. This engine is configured with direct fuel injection and a dual active valve control system utilizing automatic engine start-stop technology to enhance performance while benchmarking a 29 mpg combined fuel economy. This engine works in conjunction with a continuously variable transmission that offers smooth streamline acceleration. Subaru also integrates the powertrain with its symmetrical all-wheel drive that utilizes real-time torque correction to send power to wheels that have active traction with the roadway to help maintain control in slippery conditions.
