2019 Subaru Forester vs 2019 Toyota RAV4 near West Chester, PA

When it comes to an SUV to suit our lifestyle and personal needs, people tend to have very unique checklists in order to buy the best vehicle to compliment them for years to come.  From technology to comfort to sound systems, to the vehicle's strength, performance, and sportiness, there's a lot to consider in these utility vehicles!  Luckily for you, we've taken two of today's top contenders and placed them in a head-to-head so you can be assured you're buying your one true SUV.  The 2019 Subaru Forester has been a consistent big seller for Subaru thanks to its great interior style and reasonably valued features, making it a hardy vehicle around town as well as through your weekend escape.  This year, it's better than ever thanks to a revamp that improves interior use of space and driving dynamics with a new chassis build.   The 2019 Toyota RAV4 occupies a similar prestige within the Toyota lineup, offering some improved handling and better ground clearance this year.  Which offers the better package to accommodate all your needs?  Find out below!

2019 Subaru Forester Power & Handling

Subaru is built for reliability and adventure with standard all-wheel drive and an enhanced 2.5-liter Boxer four-cylinder engine that delivers a bit more power compared to last year.  Its 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque is channeled through a continuously variable transmission for capable performance on roads and even through light off-roading.  For those who want further responsiveness and smoother driving, the Forester is now equipped with Subaru's SI-Drive System to choose between an Intelligent or Sport torque mode.  Sport and Touring models also feature manual paddle shifters to intimidate a seven-speed automatic transmission to further personalize your Forester's performance.  This engine offers a great 26/33 mpg EPA rating for an all-wheel drive vehicle, and can tow up to 1,500 pounds.

2019 Toyota RAV4 Power & Handling

The RAV4 comes standard with front-wheel drive and available part-time all-wheel drive.  All-wheel drive vehicles come with optional Engine Stop-Start technology to save up on some fuel the more demanding drivetrain will require.  Either drivetrains are paired to the 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine that delivers 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque via an eight-speed automatic transmission.  Fuel economy is rated at 26/35 mpg with front wheel drive and 25/33 mpg with all-wheel drive.  It may be fairly comparable to the Subaru Forester, but the Toyota RAV4's smaller fuel tank means less overall mileage range and more stops at the gas station.  Its drive modes may help out some, featuring a Sport, Eco, and Normal mode to choose from to enhance driving dynamics or prioritize fuel efficiency.  It, too, can tow up to 1,500 pounds.

2019 Subaru Forester Features & Design

Subaru supplies drivers with a well rounded package of features that caters equally to modernity, comfort, flexibility, and safety.  Every Forester, most notably, features standard Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist Technologies for all-around awareness and accident prevention with automatic pre-collision braking, pre-collision throttle management, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep, sway control adjustments, blind-spot detection, and rear cross-traffic alerts.  Within the 112 cubic-foot passenger space, you'll enjoy standard cloth upholstery with available leather trim, a multifunction front instrument cluster display, dual front USB ports, automatic climate control, and a 6.5-inch multimedia radio touchscreen that comes with standard Apple and Android smartphone integration, Bluetooth, voice command recognition, and MP3 streaming.  Higher models supply you with greater seat ergonomics, heated seats and steering wheel, an enhanced 8-inch touchscreen model, available 9-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system, and even WiFi Hotspot connectivity.  Storage on the road shouldn't be any problem with 35 to 76 cubic feet of cargo capacity, plus standard roof racks.

2019 Toyota RAV4 Features & Design

The 98 cu.ft passenger space of the RAV 4 is reflective of the vehicle's shorter length , as is its lesser 69 overall cu.ft of cargo space available behind the front row seats (standard roof rack, as well, for the RAV4, though).  Comparable to Subaru's EyeSight System, Toyota offers its own standard Safety Sense suite of driver assist features including pre-collision automatic stop, lane departure monitoring and correction, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control.  The first trim misses out on standard blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alerts, however.  Inside, you'll also miss out on standard automatic climate controls and, interestingly, an integrated reverse camera--pretty standard equipment in the modern era of cars.  These are given to you within the second trim level.  Features that do come within the RAV4 include a 7-inch touchscreen multimedia display with only Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, voice command recognition, and just one USB port.

Conclusions

The 2019 Subaru Forester has engineered quite the enhanced package for expert utility and ease of use.  The standard all-wheel drive is always a nice touch for those who want to live more on the wild side while keeping drivers safe in weather conditions, all the more protected with the better suite of driver assist features.  Passengers are more comfortable with greater room to breathe, and its overall cargo capacity can tote all you need to make your trips really memorable.  Interested in learning more?  Below we have several links to discover just how perfect the 2019 Forester is for you, or you can begin your shopping right from the comfort of home via our online inventory listings of the newest vehicles we have in our stock today.
