In 2017 the Impreza got a complete makeover, so a just a few minor changes have been made to the 2018 Impreza. Whereas the Focus has had no changes made for 2018 and only a few minimum changes from the year before. The Ford Focus can fit up to five passengers but it can be cramped, especially in the back seat. The Subaru Impreza can fit a maximum of five passengers as well and provides ample space enough for even seating three adults in the rear-seat comfortably.

2018 Subaru Impreza Power & Handling

The Subaru Impreza has a 2-liter flat-4 engine with a CVT automatic transmission or a five-speed manual transmission. This engine provides 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. The EPA gave it a fuel economy rating of 38 mpg on the highway and it offers 450 miles of range with a full tank of gas. The Impreza is the most fuel-efficient all-wheel drive vehicles sold in the US.

2018 Ford Focus Power & Handling

The Ford Focus runs on an all-wheel drive and has four engines to choose from. The engines are a 1-liter turbocharged inline-3, a 2-liter inline-4, a 2-liter turbocharged inline-4, and a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4. The 2-liter inline-4 is the base engine with 160 horsepower and is paired with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The Impreza offers four trims to choose from with the base trim offering 16-inch wheels, a rearview camera, a driver information display, cruise control, Bluetooth, a USB port, and remote locking and unlocking. The Limited trim is at the top with everything the previous trims have to offer and adaptive LED headlights, leather upholstery, keyless entry and ignition, heated mirrors and front seats, and a sound-reducing windshield.

The Ford Focus offers six trim levels with the base being the S trim. The S trim comes with a rearview camera, a 4.2-inch central display, and Bluetooth. The top trim level is the Titanium with seatback map pockets, leather-wrapped shift knob, and four-way adjustable headrests.

Conclusions

In the end, the Ford Focus will get you where you need to be for your daily commute to work, but if you are looking for something a little more passenger friendly and having more luxurious items as you rise in the ranks of trims, the Impreza is the clear winner.
